To our Jewell families:
As some of you may have seen in the media, a former Jewell teacher, David M. Brandon, was arrested in November and indicted on multiple sex abuse charges. Brandon taught woodshop at our high school from September 2014 until June 2019.
We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of our students and do not tolerate any behaviors that put them at risk. Our staff is trained annually on recognizing grooming behaviors and preventing abuse. I am currently consulting with Detective Jodi Libertad in regards to this matter. Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, this is all that I am at liberty to say at this time.
We encourage anyone with pertinent information to contact Detective Jodi Libertad at 503-325-8635. If you have any questions or concerns about our school procedures, please contact me at stevep@jewellk12.org.
Sincerely,
Stephen W. Phillips, PhD.

Jewell Community,
Today we were notified that one of our High School boys basketball players has tested positive for CV-19. We have consulted with Clatsop County Health and are in the process of contact tracing. Please know that we will contact families if their child(ren) is in need of further action. In the meantime, please watch for any primary symptoms and contact that school if they develop.
Thank You and Stay Safe,
